Wandsworth helps Mayfair residents plug in to luxury marketWiring accessories specialist, The Wandsworth Group, is to supply luxury switches and sockets along with a wide range of bespoke wiring accessories for one of the most prestigious new addresses in London: Park House in Mayfair. The Land Securities development, designed by Robin Partington Architects, combines 15,140m2 of office space, 8,140m2 of retail accommodation and 5,380m2 of luxury residential apartments on the corner of Mayfair and Oxford Street. M&E consultants, Long & Partners have specified products from Wandsworth’s Series 2 range of flat plate wiring accessories in both antique bronze and yellow etched prime for use throughout the residential element of the scheme in a supply deal worth over £180,000. The yellow etched prime accessories are supplied as ‘unfinished’ plates, allowing bespoke paint finishes to be added at fit out to match the interior design of each individual apartment. The bespoke nature of the wiring accessories does not end there: Wandsworth will be supplying a wide range of custom-manufactured ‘specials’ for the installation, including combined twin data/5amp/twin switched sockets, combined HDMI outlet/switched fused spur /twin data outlets and combined fused connection/cable outlet/HDMI/twin data outlets. Explains James Webb from The Wandsworth Group: “Our wiring accessories expertise and the breadth of our range means that we are ideally suited to supplying a high calibre development like Park House, where quality of finish and a bespoke approach to providing luxury living are required. We’re delighted to be involved with such a prestigious development.” Installation of the Wandsworth wiring accessories will be carried out by electrical contractor, Essex Services Group with first phase installation beginning on site in early 2012. The following phases will be aligned to the build programme which is due for completion in November 2012. Sasi Natarajan from Long & Partners added: “We regularly specify Wandsworth wiring accessories because we know that we can be confident of choice and quality. In a scheme like this, every detail is important and, thanks to Wandsworth, the wiring accessories carry through that high standard with both traditional sockets and switches and new technology outlets.” For full story click here |

Wandsworth wins Nursecall contract for £430Million Bristol SouthmeadHealthcare technology specialist, The Wandsworth Group, has been awarded the £1 million plus contract to design, manufacture and install the state-of-the art nursecall system for the £430 million Bristol Southmead Hospital PFI scheme. The Wandsworth Ethernet-based IPiN nursecall system was offered as part of the tender process for the high profile 790-bed Bristol Southmead project and Wandsworth was subsequently awarded the supply contract. Gary Stevens, managing director of Wandsworth commented, “Bristol Southmead is an extremely high profile development and has been conceived as a ‘super hospital’, providing the very highest standards of care. The Wandsworth IPiN system is a fully addressable IP system which can not only assist in minimising nurse responses times but it can also help to deliver better resource management and operational efficiency thanks to its ability to provide real time data. What’s more, it will also help to futureproof the hospital as it can be integrated with other IP technologies and also offer the ability to provide remote monitoring and fault diagnosis via a secure on-line access.” The IPiN system will be installed in the smart wall units of all 790 beds at Bristol Southmead, as well as being fitted across all the hospital’s treatment areas, clinical areas, acute areas and 24 operating theatres. The contract follows the recent installation of Wandsworth’s IPiN nursecall system at the 60-bed South Bristol Hospital, part of the Hengrove Park regeneration scheme in the city. For this project, Wandsworth has designed and supplied the IPiN system which is now installed and complete. At Bristol Southmead, Wandsworth has now started works at the site and is expected to complete the installation of the nurse call system by April 2013”. |

Wandsworths IPiN Wins in DenmarkLeading Danish electrical contractor, Lindpro, has selected The Wandworth Group’s IPiN nursecall system for all its hard wired nursecall installations in a deal that could be worth up to 25 million Danish Krone (£2.5 million) a year. A €140 million company employing 1,200 people across Denmark, Lindpro is responsible for installing security and safety systems in around 50% of Danish hospital projects and 25% of care home schemes. When the company decided to look for a new nursecall system it began a rigorous selection process for both hard-wired and wireless nursecall systems, narrowing its hardwired choice down to just two IP-based products: the Ethernet-based IPiN from The Wandsworth Group and a Belgian competitor. Negotiations were handled by Wandworth’s exclusive Scandinavian agent, Norway-based Maxeta AS, which was responsible for demonstrating the advantages of the IPiN product to Lindpro and delivering a pilot project in competition with the Belgian system in order to win the business. The resulting agreement will see Wandworth’s IPiN nursecall system become the only hard-wired nursecall system installed by Lindpro’s healthcare division, with Maxeta continuing to deliver the supply chain as Wandsworth’s local agent. Comments managing director of The Wandsworth Group, Gary Stevens: “This fantastic deal once again demonstrates that the IPiN system is not only sector leading technology in the UK but is a world-class product in demand by leading project delivery partners. To win this business IPiN faced strong competition from other systems developed across Europe and came out on top which proves that there is still much to celebrate in British manufacturing and excellent potential for exporting British products to help feed sustainable economic growth.” Carsten Hernvig, head of the Danish market for Maxeta adds: “The flexibility, quality and integration possibilities of the IPiN system give it many advantages against other nursecall systems and Lindpro’s decision to use IPiN confirms that the technology addresses the healthcare sector’s needs.” |

In addition, single speaker outlet plates are also available, enabling specifiers to enhance the sound quality by locating speakers around the room or into another room such as an en-suite bathroom, for example. Andy Howe, sales director of The Wandsworth Group: “By designing a range that allows specifiers to choose whether to incorporate speakers within the same plate as the docking unit or as a separate speaker unit, we have created a system that is flexible and scalable, depending on the installation. The design options also provide increased choice to suit most interiors.” The i-fi system offers both line-out outputs for connection to multi-room systems and stereo input for external music players. An optional infra-red remote control is also available, offering users volume, play, pause and skip functions when the device is fitted in the unit. Where enhanced sound quality is required, Wandsworth can also supply compatible loud speakers which can be connected to the stereo amplifier to improve the listening experience. Andy continues: “Increasingly people are carrying their music tastes around with them on their iPhone or iPod and want the freedom to listen wherever they go. This range allows that facility to become a permanent fixture within a room, whilst remaining unobtrusive and complementing other wiring accessories and providing the security that a portable plug-in device cannot.” A brochure for the units can be downloaded here * iPod & iPhone are registered trademarks of Apple inc. |

Gordon’s field-based role will be to provide technical support and trouble-shooting advice and training to KNX systems integrators. He will also be responsible for delivering KNX training and technical support to the Wandsworth sales team.
