Operation of the cell
call system A call is initiated by pressing the push
button inside the cell. This activates the printed circuit
board in the corridor unit outside the cell and a reassurance
light will illuminate on the cell call unit to confirm the
call has been activated. Inmate controls operate at 24volt
DC The light on the corridor unit
will illuminate to indicate from which cell the call is made.
A light will illuminate on the indicator board in the duty office to show
from which wing or landing the call has originated and a buzzer will sound
continuously.
A mute button on the indicator board enables the buzzer to be silenced.
Any other call will reactivate the buzzer.
The call is cancelled
by means of a reset push button on the corridor unit outside the
cell.
The external indicator lamp and the call reassurance LED light are in series
so that they are mutually self monitoring.
Operation of the cell light system The cell light is operated by a switch inside the cell.
This switch operates a 24volt DC relay mounted in the corridor unit which
switches the 240volt supply to cell light fitting.
On the corridor unit is a switch to operate the cell inspection light when
required. The unit is wired so that either the cell light or the inspection
light can be operated individually but cannot be on at the same time. The
cell light will over-ride the inspection light.
